Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Scholar Guide (the "Service"), operated by Firelink Labs LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. The Service is designed for use by parents, guardians, and educators to manage homeschool education records.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of the educational records, images, work samples, and other content you create or upload to the Service ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload malicious content, malware, or spam
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the Service in bulk
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
  • Impersonate another person or entity

5. AI-Powered Features

The Service includes AI-powered features such as portfolio narrative generation, lesson plan creation, progress reports, and activity description suggestions. These features are provided for convenience and informational purposes only. AI-generated content may contain errors.

AI-generated educational narratives and compliance suggestions are not legal advice. Always verify your state's homeschool requirements with your local education authority. We are not liable for any consequences resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

Certain features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment terms, renewal, and cancellation are governed by the respective app store. See our Subscription Terms for details.

7. Family Sharing

The Family plan allows sharing with household members. You are responsible for the activity of household members you invite. Family sharing features are intended for personal, family use only.

8. Compliance Data

Scholar Guide provides state-specific homeschool compliance information for all 50 US states. This information is provided for informational purposes and is updated periodically. We make reasonable efforts to keep this data accurate but do not guarantee it reflects the most current state regulations. Always verify requirements with your state's department of education.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Firelink Labs LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written consent.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Firelink Labs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of educational records, or reliance on AI-generated or compliance content.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting updated Terms within the app and updating the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
